This beautiful exhibition features paintings from the collection of Wesleyan College in Macon. The core of the collection was donated to the college during the 1930s through 1950s by distinguished painter and Wesleyan alumna, Helena Eastman Ogden Campbell, and by friends in her New York and European artistic milieu. The collection remains a testament to her commitment to painting and collecting and her leadership in the New York arts community.

More than thirty paintings offer a window into the styles and techniques taught at some of the most prestigious studios of New York City and Europe during the early 1900s: Academie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the Philadelphia School of Art, the Chase School and the Art Students League in New York, and The Chicago Art Institute. Ogden Campbell chose traditional subjects of still-lifes and portraiture. She enhanced the collection with work by confident, painterly, and classically trained artists, including William Stanley Haseltine, Edward Dufner, Jane Peterson, Chauncey R. Ryder, Gustave Weigand, Sophie Marston Brannen, and other recognized and critically acclaimed American artists.
