Recap: “Dancing on the Edge of the Abyss” Showcases African American Women Artists

In this exhibition currently on view, we take a deeper look into the art of African American abstract women abstract artists. This project presents a new selection of over two dozen infrequently seen works on paper by 18 different women.

Meet Wes and Missy Cochran

Wesley and Missy Cochran were born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia. Missy graduated from LaGrange College in 1980 and received her Master’s degree from Columbus State University in 1986. Missy is a retired high school math teacher.

Wesley Cochran graduated from West Georgia College in 1974 and is a retired stonemason. He is a co-director of the Cochran Art Gallery with Missy and they are active collectors of contemporary works on paper.
